Bout time I did something with this site. Upgraded to 2.9 and upgraded all the plugins needing upgrading.

To 2.8.4, saw one difference – add new themes. Will be testing this out before I upgrade the other blogs. Want to be sure it works as it had me log in then I got “are you sure” then the login page again minus my password. Weird.

That Was Painless

Upgrading to 2.7.1. Was unable to unzip the zip file, not sure why. Some of the zips are like that now. Frustrating. But the automatic upgrade worked flawlessly. Just had to fix functions.php to include the links to the custom smilies.

Fixed It

Noticed on Dashboard stuff said “Loading” and it never loaded. Checked my FTP and noticed I hadn’t updated some files so I reuploaded everything and it worked. Stuff loaded. Everything else should work now. I had uploaded 2.7 correctly to other sites, why they worked. My error.

Flawed Upgrade

When I try to update plugins I get
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_remote_get() in /wp.mindofmog.net/wp-admin/includes/file.php on line 444
I can’t seem to win for losing with this site. Other sites seem to work so far.
Checked, no such file exists.

More thoughts on the upgrade

My difficulty with widgets may be due to an incompatible theme. Found a list of compatible themes and going thru it to find ones I like. Have switched to another one that is compatible for the moment. Not all the links work but this one has a cool 404 file not found page.
